Just came across this article in Psychology Today about the benefits of playing back your favorite memories. According to the author...
"Being able to call up positive and detailed memories helps us to deepen our inner sense of well-being and joy."
She also gives you a trick to enhance your ability to bring back good memories— a technique called the "method-of-loci" strategy.

Was Your Gym Teacher Wrong?
Many of the techniques that you learned in gym class are now considered passé – and downright risky. “A lot of it has to do with the evolution of the science,” says Jessica Matthews, M.S., an exercise physiologist at the American Council on Exercise (ACE). “Numerous studies have come out in the last decade about the most effective ways for stretching.
I learned quite a bit about stretching from this article in Weight Watchers. Who knew I was doing so many stretches wrong.

Moving to Bali
I found this article, in the Wall Street Journal, about a retired couple moving to Bali, to be fascinating. I know of a number of couples who are retiring elsewhere because living in California has gotten just too expensive. Love the idea of getting a "social visaa" to try it out for six months. Bali sounds so fabulous but I have just one question...Tsunamis?

Love and Haight
Anyone remember the "summer of love" and the five years that followed? I was a teenager then, living near San Francisco and wanting to go to the Haight-Ashbury district to experience the hippie lifestyle. Mom and Dad basically said "Over our dead bodies "........i was so close but so far away! This book took me back to that time and place and reminded me of the pull San Francisco held for so many of us. LOVE AND HAIGHT, by Susan Carlton, gives a real picture of the the 1970's in the Haight. more...
